Flashback: Rural Portraits in AZ

The sessions I'm editing right now makes me really homesick for Virginia.  It so reminds me of some of the sessions I had back home in June...farms, horses....  Sigh.  (Only posting a peek; don't want to ruin holiday card surprises!)

Guest Blogging

I'm guest blogging today over at John Horn's Photoshop Actions blog.  I was kinda nervous about it, having never guest blogged before, and not knowing how simple or advanced to be.  I decided to go with simple but fun (I think!).  You can check it out here:  http://jhpactions.com/blog/

Be sure to check out John's Ps actions, too!  I've never been a big action fan, but John's make me sit up and take notice!  And definitely check out the top secret actions he'll be releasing this weekend.  I've been testing them and let me tell you...THEY ROCK!

Nicely done, John!

After Dark in New Orleans

We are firm believers in education and continuing education.  We make it a point to attend at least two workshops every year.  Here are some photos from one I attended last week in New Orleans.  I'm still editing!  More to come!

It's a Doggy Dog World - Pet Photography in Queen Creek, Mesa, Chandler, Tempe, San Tan Valley, Gilbert, Arizona

Have you ever watched that show, Modern Family?  I watched it for the first time last week; it was the Halloween episode.  One of the characters is a lady from Columbia and she often mistakes words in idiomatic phrases.  One of those is "It's a doggy dog world," instead of a "dog-eat-dog" world.

I like her version better.  I'll bet Obi does, too.

News: What's In, What's Out and Product Review

In:  properly lighted outdoor portraits with blue, blue skies
Out:  tilted photographs (thank goodness, they were making me dizzy and I was fraught with worry with everyone sliding off the edge of the photo into oblivion, hehe), textures (although i'm not ready to let them go just yet...not entirely)

Product Review:  3" Accordion Mini-Books - A GREAT holiday gift for grandparents, aunts and uncles, mom and dad.  Simple, stylish, beautiful, fun!

Night Portraits, Motorcycle Portraits in San Tan Valley, Queen Creek, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Scottsdale, Arizona

This was so amazingly fun to shoot! John was a great sport, letting me do my thing, in my way (which often involves falling on the ground laughing).  He loves the result!  Next up:  the Porsche!

Friday Face

The photography gods recommend taking some time out regularly from business and create something just for fun.  I've been lacking on the doing of photos just for fun lately, so Todd and i have been playing around inside and outside the studio.  Here are a few "just for fun" photos.

P.S.  Happy Friday!

Boudoir Photography in Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, AZ

Boudoir sessions are always so fun to shoot!  I shot this in a mix of lighting:  some in natural light, some with "old Hollywood style" lighting, and some with a ringflash.  To see more, visit our Boudoir gallery in portfolio two on our website at http://studiocentricphoto.com/

The Kylie Session

I'm not a huge fan of the faded out, "old-timey" photo look, but this set just sorta called for it.  I think it works well here, yes?

I've been really big into the "clothing ad" look lately:

And of course, my favorite, a bit of the "Old Hollywood" feel:

What's in a Name?

People may think it's a bit odd that we changed our name from Miller&Miller Photography to StudioCentric Photography because "Miller" didn't really sound like us. It is our name, after all.  But that's the thing;  it's a lot of other peoples' name, too.  Soooo, we came up with something like sounds more like us and where we're heading:  StudioCentric.  It's true that we're planning on focusing more on studio portraits in the very near future, but it's also true that we're a bit eccentric.  So, the new name fits.  Don't you think?  ;o)

Remember these images from over a year ago?  Plan on seeing more of this dramatic lighting.  It's fantastic for everything from boudoir to seniors.
