I've been shooting so much indoor commercial and studio work lately that i feel as though i haven't been outside in months. It was really nice to get outdoors for a session recently. As per usual, i don't post images from holiday cards (don't want to ruin the surprise!), but i got the okay to sneak this one in post holiday. What a cute little dude!

After much prodding and encouragement from a photographer friend, i've decided to go full-force in producing art prints. So far, i'm offering them only on metal, but am looking into a secret crystal-infused paper option.
Here are the first two, which i will soon make available for order on my website. I sold a 24x30 this week via Facebook. I can't get over how amazing these look on sheer matte aluminum. I'll post images of those next week.

Purchase this special between now and Saturday Nov. 26. Includes hair/make-up. Print is on metallic paper; upgrade to print on actual metal for additional fee.
People have said to me, "There's no way I could do this type of portrait; I don't have the features," or they "look bad" in photos, etc., etc., etc.
Well, here's proof that ANYONE can be in fantasy portraits (or regular portraits!). I did this photo for an assignment in a photography group. Most members of the group live in places where it snows. My living in the Phoenix Valley forced me to come up with my own "snow" image and so i created The Snow Queen.
I literally pulled my hair up in a pony tail, pulled some loose strands out, sloppily slapped some light foundation on my face, added some light accents to my eyes, and the rest was done in Photoshop.
P.S. i'm completely embarrassed to show the "before" but i really wanted everyone to see that ANYONE can be in fantasy photography.

Yeah! I recently shot album cover/promo images for the band Teratoma. One of the photos was given props today on KUPD. To that i say F!#$ YES!

The economy isn't a friendly place these days. I've been following the Occupy movement with awe and admiration for those who take the time to stand up against the 1%. Having had my little guy in the hospital last week with septicemia (blood infection) from a tooth abscess, no dental insurance and a $5,000 deductible on our health insurance, we're now sitting on $8,000 worth of medical and dental bills. (Huge thanks to everyone using us for your photography needs and referring us to others; we would not be eating without you!)
So, i totally get wanting custom photography but not having a spot in the budget to have it. A friend recently found herself in that situation, and so went with a fauxtog (or MWAC-Mom With A Camera) for a couple hundred bucks and a disc of underexposed, grainy photos that left one son off to the side like an afterthought, not to mention the wall peeking out from one side of the backdrop. People, don't do that. Just go to WalMart's studio or Target's or whatever other cheap department store studio you can find. That way, you have a better chance of at least having properly exposed photos, and you'll only be paying $20 for them. Then, save up for nice, custom photography to have done later.

Music has always been a huge part of my life. I see a lot of shows, but am especially supportive of the local music scene. Since moving to Tempe, i've had the opportunity to photograph several bands, both live on stage, and planned promo sessions. I'm really excited about an album cover shoot coming up next month. It's top secret until the CD release in Spring, so i can't say more, but watch this space! Until then, here are some recent shots from live events.
If your band needs wicked sweet photos, hit me up! email@example.com

Chris is one of my favorite people on Planet Earth. He's wise, has a great sense of humor, and is a caring person. It had been a really long time since Chris had portraits made, and he decided it was time to have some done for his family. I'm sure they'll love these shots of this handsome guy!

It's rare that i get to actually post my commercial shoots publicly (oftentimes because the client is going to use the images in a copyrighted publication), so it's a nice treat for me when i get to.
Sleepy (yes, that's his real name!) is nearing graduation from the prestigious Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences. I've had the pleasure of watching him work, recording music for the band, Sativa Strain, and will get to work with him while he produces a video. (Man, i LOVE my job!)
If you need audio, video, or a commercial made (his newest specialty), Sleepy is your man! Enjoy the images we shot for his portfolio.

Sometimes people are hesitant (for whatever reason) to comment publicly on photos. Although there were several public comments on Facebook when i posted Jeff's photos, there were far more private comments sent to me via email, text, or Fb inbox. I'm going to share some of them here (anonymously, of course!):
"He has mesmerizing eyes!"
"OMG, what a SEXAY MAN!!!!"
"I wish he was mine!"
"Everything about him is perfect!"
"...could be in True Blood or Twilight...love the shot!"
"He is beautiful!"
"WOW, he is awesome!"
"...his eyes are incredible...!"
"...he is beautiful and he should know that."
You've definitely got people talking, Jeff ;)

When Craig told me he wanted some portraits made, i knew it would be fun (he's a funny guy!), but i learned some cool things about him AND he rigged the light my daughter broke the previous day so i could use it on my shoots until my new parts come in. And, as a bonus, he wanted a couple shirtless shots. Man, i have a hard job! ;)

I have the best job ever! Last Sunday i spent the day at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences with Sativa Strain. They completely blew me away! Eric Saiki can SCREAM; it was very cool being in the studio with these guys. I'll be photographing them on stage October 15th at:
The Clubhouse Music Venue
1320 E Broadway
Ah, wow...would ya look at that?! That's just a few blocks up the road from our new diggs. I'm seriously the luckiest girl in the world.
